The english version of Descent 3 was brought to the linux community by Lokigames. The storyline of Descent 3 is shown through several cutscenes throughout the game, as well as in in-game mission briefings and debriefings.
Previously in Descent 2, Material Defender 1032 had narrowly escaped the destruction of an alien planetoid he was investigating on orders of the Post Terran Mining Corporation (PTMC), a megacorporation. He was about to return to Earth to collect his reward, but without warning, a malfunction occurred with the prototype warp drive in the ship he was flying...

The language pack applies from the following versions. If you want to know which version you are currently running type descent3 -v at your shell prompt.

What is needed?
Below you find a list of things which are required to use this language pack successfully.

What should i download?
Here you find a list of files you can download. Download the most recent version of the language pack you want to play and only the latest version is available for download here. If you want an older version take a look at the download directory.
How do i install it?
Installation is simple, just follow the steps below. If it does not work, please send a bug report to me. Notice: There is no reason to download all language packs, except testing, if you only want to play in your native language only download your language pack. The setup process automatically detects available language packs.
1. Download babelize-descent3-de-1.0.0.tar.gz from above.
2. tar xzf babelize-descent3-de-1.0.0.tar.gz && cd babelize-descent3-de-1.0.0
3. ./configure && make && make install
Are there any limitations or known problems?
Yes and no, it depends on definition. First of all i can say the complete game is localized, the maps, the intro, the menus, the voices and the subtitles. Below you see the list of known limitations and bugs.
Before you start the game, you must edit the Descent 3 configuration file, otherwise the game will start in the last used locale. So do the following after localization. Open the file:
~/.loki/descent3/.Descent3Registry
Add the following line:
"LanguageType"=dword:1
